Chip in for a Cure was founded in 1995 by Charlene Jarvis and Sheila Wolfson to raise money for breast cancer research.
In 2001, Chip in for a Cure became a 501(c)3 charity and decided to apply the proceeds from its fundraisers to help women in the Greater Hartford Community. More than $500,000 has been donated to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Hartford Hospital specifically to be used for breast cancer research, free mammograms and patient assistance funds.
